He served with the Khiva Shrine in Amarillo from 1966 through 1995.and Marcy Sessions and husband Jon of Wellington; seven grandchildren, Steven Long and wife Amy of Piedmont, Okla., Shelby Long and wife Holly of Hollis, Landon Long of Alexandria, Va., Jackson Long of Altus, Yury Rouba and wife Heather of Edmond, Reed Sessions of Wellington and Riley Sessions of Wellington; six great grandchildren, Marek Long, Keetin Long, Ayden Long, Iliana Rouba, Oliver Rouba and Estelle Rouba; one sister, Tennie Pritchard and husband Jerry of Shamrock; one brother, William Horton and wife Billie of Shawnee, Okla.; two brothers in law, Larry Long and wife Linda of Elk City and Gary Long and wife Linda of Blanchard; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In 1995 he became a member of the Bedouin unit in the Moslah Shrine in Fort Worth where he remained active until his death.The family greeted friends at Harmon County Funeral Home on May 26 from 6 until 7 p.m. Lockhart, age 79 of Wellington, died Saturday, May 17, 2014 in Wellington. Dan loved the Shrine as it embraced causes dear to his heart and fellow Shriners were his closest of friends. He never met a stranger and as an educator, he focused his energies and attention on struggling youth.Online tributes may be made to the family at Harmon County He was also a life member of multiple professional education organizations. He was a natural mentor to young adults providing guidance and assistance and at times, even his and Elaines home as a place for them to stay.Survivors include a son, Dan Thompson Trew and wife Jeanne; twin daughters, Tammy Rehkemper and husband Michael and Terry Fuller and husband Mark; and his grandchildren, Jesse Fuller, Alice Fuller and Travis Rehkemper.The family requests memorials be made to the Moslah Temple Shrine, 1100 Henderson, Fort Worth, TX 76102-4583. Statham was born June 9, 1932, in Childress to Pierce Ben and Roxie Faye Heckathorne Snider.Honorary pallbearers were Willie Gragson, Jackie Barnett, Johnny Barnett, Jon Sessions, Raymond Fike, Lynn Mays, Alex Molina and Robert Owens. A time of casual gathering of friends, family, co-workers and fishermen was held May 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. He was a self taught man who was able to try and do anything and fix and repair just about everything. He was a member of the Houston Texas Oilmans Bass Club and Strawbridge United Methodist Church. They will be blessed with the arrival of a great grandchild soon. She later began working as the assistant county treasurer for Harmon County and was later elected treasurer for Harmon County, retiring in 1997. With this union came two step children, Sonya and Billy whom he cared for deeply. OHair of Amarillo; four great grandchildren, Zachery T. She was a retired custodian for Amarillo Independent School District. During subsequent years Dan was a real estate investor, home builder and land broker in Amarillo.
